POST-CONGRESS TOURS
* HERP-WATCHING IN CENTRAL ASIA
We are sorry to announce that this post-congress tour had to be
cancelled due to current political situation in some regions
included in its itinerary, i.e. with regard to safety of participants.
This is especially regrettable because the excursion was proposed
by some people as early as in Adelaide. The CBT Travel Agency will
contact all who already made registration.
This is a nine-day excursion to Central Asia which will provide
opportunities a to see historical sites and to watch lovely
animals. The itinerary includes flights to Tashkent (one of the
oldest cities in the territory of former U.S.S.R. with a 2000-year
long history and beautiful old oriental palaces), then to Samarkand
(founded 1000 years B.C., former capital of the Timur Empire in the
13th century),bus transfer to Buchara (the best preserved fortified
medievaltown in the region), trips to the Kyzylkum desert, flight to
Dushanbe (capital of Tadzhikistan, with a trip to the romantic Varrob
canyon, which has beautiful waterfalls), a trip along the Gissar
Valley with the magnificent Gissar Citadel and a visit to Nurek Dam
Lake. The appointed CBT Travel Agency has many years of experience
with excursions into this corner of the world.
